Historic RittenhouseTown is located in the Historic Northwest section
of Philadelphia approximately 8 miles or 20 minutes from Philadelphia's
City Hall.
Please note that if you are driving a bus
or truck these vehicles are not permitted on Lincoln Drive. Special
instructions are provided below.

From Center City Philadelphia or Southern New Jersey
- Take I-76 West towards Valley Forge.
- Take Exit # 340A towards Lincoln Drive/ Kelly Drive/ Wissahickon
Park; FOLLOW SIGNS FOR Lincoln Drive.
- Follow Lincoln Drive for approximately 1.5 miles, make a right
at the first traffic light (Rittenhouse Street).
- Follow Rittenhouse Street for one block, and make a left at
the first traffic light (Wissahickon Avenue).
- Follow Wissahickon Avenue for 1-½ blocks.
- The entrance for RittenhouseTown will be on your left, halfway
up the hill.
- The first building you come to is the Visitors Center; this
is where the tour begins.
From Northern and Western Suburbs
- From the west, take US-202 or I-276 (PA Turnpike) towards Valley
Forge/ King of Prussia to I-76.
- From the North, take I-476 towards Conshohocken to I-76.
- Take I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) East towards center city Philadelphia.
- Take Exit # 340A Towards Lincoln Drive/ Kelly Drive/ Wissahickon
Park; FOLLOW SIGNS FOR Lincoln Drive.
- Follow Lincoln Drive for approximately 1.5 miles, make a right
at the first traffic light (Rittenhouse Street).
- Follow Rittenhouse Street for one block, and make a left at
the first traffic light (Wissahickon Avenue).
- Follow Wissahickon Avenue for 1-½ blocks.
- The entrance for RittenhouseTown will be on your left, halfway
up the hill.
- The first building you come to is the Visitors Center; this
is where the tour begins.
Bus Directions
- Take Exit 340A from I-76 and follow the sign for Ridge Avenue
West.
- At the end of the exit ramp, stay right and follow signs for
Ridge Avenue.
- Continue on Ridge Avenue, up a steep hill.
- At the traffic light at the top of the hill, bear left to continue
on Ridge Avenue.
- You will come to a traffic light with signs indicating Shurs
Lane to the left and Walnut Lane to the right (there are gas stations
on three of the corners).
- Turn Right onto Walnut Lane.
- After the bridge, at the traffic cricle, bear right on Walnut
Lane.
- Follow Walnut Lane until you reach Wissahickon Avenue.
- Turn right on Wissahickon Avenue.
- The entrance for Historic RittenhouseTown will be on the right,
halfway down the hill (If you reach Lincoln Drive, you have passed
the driveway).
- The first building you come to is the Visitors Center; this
is where the tour begins.
- The bus should continue down the driveway; there is parking
available between the next two houses.
Public Transportation
- Mass Transit comes within a few blocks of RittenhouseTown's
entrance. Please call RittenhouseTown for directions from these

- The closest bus route is the 65.
- The closest train station is the Tulpohocken Station on the
R-8 Regional Rail Line.
